In Partnership with those in Poverty

Many of us have probably been giving a little extra to charity during this season, dropping a few dollars into the Salvation Army buckets or doing various drives with churches, local food banks, etc. But, if we are honest, many of us even inclined to be sympathetic to those in poverty give sporadically--we give when we are confronted directly with poverty, or reminded of it, or (in the social media version) when we come across a touching video.

But what if churches developed a more sustained approach? What if, as Laura Rector asks, we imagined ourselves in full-partnership with those in poverty?
